Just a few new concepts for your cards -

Here are just a handful or so of some cards I have recently made for my friends - you will find a variety of occasions, from - bridal shower, birthday, friendship and so forth.

I just used some card stock, stickers, vellum, brads and other papers and quotes to create these cards. The one card in here has been created out of a paper sack - who would have thought that they are good for yet another thing. Remember - imagination is key!! If you canthink it - you definitely can create it!
Please leave me your feedback - what do you think? I would love to see some of your ideas and creations, too. You can always check out my website at www.daisykaye.com

Fun "THANK YOU" Cards

Isn’t it always nice to say Thank You to someone that you care about with a personalized card? These cards are as simple as just fun patterned paper with stickers - then adhered to a thicker cardstock.

This summer I have had so many friends and family members help me out with various things. They range from really simple acts of kindness all the way to going the extra mile and inconvenience to themselves.

Some of them have been waiting quite sometime for me to say thank you others it will seem like it was just the other day - all the same I love and appreciate you all.

The other day – I got in the zone and created so many cards. I just sat there with sweats on and the rain pouring outside with a couple of really good movies going in the background. Great atmosphere for card creating - huh?

Any how now I have to get these sent out! Thankfully, I have the cards done. Anyways, I thought I would post a few of my favorites. Perhaps they will give you ideas or you may want to comment on them and give me ideas, either way – ENJOY!

Homemade Custom Placemats

Creating homemade custom place mats for each member of your family is a fun way to connect. It is a lot of fun for your kids to choose their themes and items they want on their place mats.

Let the fun begin – what I like to do first is name placement. Then you can add the stickers around. Sometimes on the back of the place mat I put the alphabet or numbers as a border. I even use shapes (i.e. circles, squares and triangles) as well as colors – thus creating a learning mat.

I use a lot of my scrap booking items - stickers, die cuts, pretty much anything. It is also fun to use a picture of the person (I made place mats for my primary class one year. I just took a photo of each one of them, printed them off and created a place mat which had their name, photo and stickers of what they liked.) It turned out to be a nice surprise for them as well as their parents. This is pictured below -

My kids have used their place mats for play dough and painting. Mostly we use them to sit as a family for meals. It is a lot of fun.

It is a simple – yet fun gift to involve your kids in making for someone special.

Try it – let me know what you think!

12x12 Graduation Momento Card

Graduation day has come and gone. Hooray!! In the weeks leading up to our daughters graduation from high school - I found myself pondering just what I was going to do for her in the way of a card. I definitely wanted it to be something special - a sort of a way to show her how she had changed over the years. Of course, all those school photos that had been taken of her from kindergarten to present. I could finally put them to use - some of the older ones haven't been hanging in the house for what seems like forever. I used my favorite program - photoshop and created this card. I placed all the photos and labeled them with the grade and year it was taken. Then I used some scrapbook paper and finished the front off with heart shaped fasteners and silver alphabet stickers for her name.

The inside of the card I wanted to drive home the real point of how she has grown - how appropriate to use her baby photo from the day she was born and her most recent photo in her cap and gown. My husband and our other two children each wrote our own little message on paper and stuck them to the card. I used a wonderful scripture on vellum to add a little more meaning to the page.

Basically, I wanted Kayla to have a good starting point for the scrapbook she can now create for herself.
I am pleased with the finish product - what do you think?

Graduation Announcement

Our oldest daughter is graduating from High School!!! We can’t believe it – Time sure does fly by. As we were approaching the deadline for graduation announcements to be ordered through the school – I couldn’t quite grasp that with all the computer technology we have now, the schools are still ordering the same ole foil graduation announcements that have been used for twenty plus years. We decided to give our daughter, as well as friends and family members a Graduation announcement that would be one to remember for years to come. We put several photos of her from her years in high school – created a template in photoshop added some commencement information and there it was. Our daughter has a custom announcement to hold on to as a keepsake from her youth.

FUN N GAMES WEBSITE

Hip Hip Hooray!!! I am so excited… You see I have 3 daughters - our oldest is 18 (Kayla) she is not really into kid stuff any longer – however our younger two ages 9 (Karly) and 6 (Kassidy) still enjoy kid stuff.

They really enjoy playing games on the computer and go to various kid friendly sites. However, they talked their AWESOME daddy into building their own custom website with fun and games on it just for them to share with others. They picked all the games. So guess what? It is up and going online. The web address is www.neveskidz.com on this site they have about 18 games (they are good for all ages and family friendly) from tic tac toe to Zelda. We hope you go to the site and check it out. You’ll be sure to have loads of fun – there is also a page that you can leave them a message and let them know what you think of their site. But be nice – they are only kids…

Springtime

Boy do I have Spring fever! The other day I decided to throw together a cover for a Springtime flower book I intend on putting together when all the flowers start to bloom in the next few months. This is what I have come up with - It definitely has me smelling the sweet scent of the many flowers I anticipate capturing with the camera lens.

With Springtime knocking on our door, I felt it appropriate to create some fun layouts to welcome the season. This first one has a solid black background offering a more elegant look. This makes an absolutely gorgeous card for a loved one or perhaps a fun cover for a Springtime memory book.

Enjoy this more casual layout with the subtle daisy pattern in the background. What a simply charming accent for a special card celebrating the fabulous season to come. This too will make a lovely Springtime scrapbook cover.

As the season sets into full blossom - be sure to check back and take a peek at the magnificent Spring flowers and foliage we are blessed with.
Happy Spring!!!

All Occasion Cards

Here are a few simple cards – You can use them for Mothers Day and Fathers Day – just because and welcome to Spring! It is really easy to make the window like card by cutting a photo into squares and cutting some cardstock into squares that are slightly larger squares then the photo. You can use different colors of cardstock or keep it the same. There is no set size for these cards –

Remember – it is fun to use stickers, die cuts, punches and really – your options are unlimited. These are just ideas to help you get your creative side going. The most important thing is to have a great time.

Scrapbooking Tip

I love to use photos for cards. I have cut the photo into squares and then glue them onto cardstock - This gives it the look of a window. I will post a picture of one of my favorite cards that I did this way.
I am open to your ideas -- WHAT HAS WORKED FOR YOU.
Have a good night.

Another great tip

Don't forget to check back on Wednesday night to see another great tip for a fun card. I have tossed a photo on of a really simple card to make - could be a birthday card or any occasion. The great thing is you don't have to have a folded card anymore. This is loaded with cardstock and vellum quotes that you can customize for any occasion and just print on a laser or inkjet printer, add some cut outs and/or stickers and you are all set.

I have to be honest with you - as a full time mom with a full time job out of the home, I just don't have time to spend hours on creating a card. I love that cards can be handmade and give the impression that you have taken a lot of time on it. What I hope is that I can help you save time on custom creations - yet make the card that will bring joy to the one it was made for.

If anybody has a tip or thought to share - please feel free to contact me so that I can pass it along.

Thanks and See you on Wednesday!

Keepsake Card

Here is an example of what I classify as a Keepsake Card –

I made this card for my nieces first birthday – it is actually a compilation of some of the photos that I had taken of her throughout her first year. It is always amazing to see changes in young children, especially from birth to age one. The changes are incredible!

The dimension of the card is 12x12 and I have cropped down wallet sized photos, backed them on card stock. I printed the dates of the photos on vellum and put them with the photos they correspond with. I think the heart brads add to the page -- it's just fun and girly. The inside of this card actually has another photo from her birthday and one that is pretty close to her 1st birthday with a line in between the two pictures saying, “From birthday to birthday”

The great thing about a card this size is that it makes a cute framed collage to hang in the child’s bedroom or somewhere else in your home.

As always -- happy scrapping!!!

Simple cards

Customized cards are AWESOME!!! There are no two alike –

I made this card for my sister-in-law who just recently had her 5th child and first boy – finally!! I just wanted to give her something simple to congratulate her. Most people really appreciate a handmade custom card that speaks from the heart. With just a few pieces of paper, stickers, a simple quote and some brads to add dimension you have created a keepsake.
